Hi all..

Thinking about upgrading, and I'm wondering about features on the D100, and how they compare to other SLR's. I've heard that DOF preview is on the digital rebel, and its hands down one of the best features. Does the D70 have this as well? I would prefer to stick with Nikon as I'm more familiar with them.

Cheers

Between the D100 and the D70 I would probably pick the D70 today. It has some nice new short-cuts that I wish the D100 had. I think the only thing I've seen that I wouldn't like is that the D70 doesn't shoot .tif. Chris is right though, check out DPReview, and then also go to the store and pick up the different cameras. If you have a good selection of Nikon lenses that is likely to be th right direction to go, over time the body is the less expensive part .... :)

Dan,

Just sent you a pm. My research indicated that dollar for dollar, the D70 was hard to beat (within the Nikon line). The "experts" at the local camera emporium also touted the D70 over the 100. Morgan in Toronto, attended the show and also recommends the D70.

As is mentioned above, glass will be the determinant on how satisfied you end up with the picture quality. Good glass costs. Added the Nikkor 17-35mm f/2.8 to my stable. Absolutely a "wonderful" lense on the D70.

Regards,

Thanks for the suggestions ...

I did consider the D70, and I guess initially price was the main factor.. If D70 is the better buy for todays standards then I will change my tack and try and scope out some D70 deals (and some lenses !).

Cheers

I've had a D70 for two weeks now and I'm very happy. I considered the D100 and actually bought one last summer but returned it for a refund. Not because it sucked but because of the price. With modern glass I would have been into it for over $2200. Not really in my price range. The D70 was.
