Hi... I am still new to digital photography and I have just recently purchased photoshop so editing pictures is still a work in progress... anyways... I have a pic I took of a water drop and I would really appreciate it if anyone who has time could view it on their monitor and tell me if it looks good... (too dark? too light? colours ok?)

I'm not sure if my monitor is calibrated correct or if i have funky lighting in my room...

please view it and give me your feedback, thanks

It was taken with a nikon D50 with an old Nikon PB Bellows II (from the 70's I think... it's from the nikon F system)
I have to use a small extension tube to mount it on my camera. And I am using my trusty old Nikon Series E manual focus 50mm f/1.8 lens. I used a nikon SB-28 on am SC-29 cord to light it from the side and give the drop a catch light...

All I did was minor adjustments in Camera Raw...

Here is the pic... please give me your feedback, thanks

Hard to guess what the light was like when you took it but it looks good on my calibrated montitor. If anything it may be a bit dark but you say you used just a bit of catchlight.

I tried to increase the exposure, but that makes the light refracted inside the drop too bright... I could just brighten up the leaf in a separate layer... i'm not sure... what do you think?

It's dark. Look at the histogram in photoshop, it's all pretty much left of center and then a flatline to the right. Here's the same shot using a levels layer to correct that.

Still detail in the brighter areas within the water drops.

This one is better though I think you can push the exposure just a touch more (not much, maybe 0.1).

Still a tad dark i think. What's a tad? The distance between your two nostrils.

Just kidding.
