Can someone help me?
Just a quick question for my challenge entry,
Is it ok to change the aspect ratios under the advanced editing rules since the change is an over-all adjustment?
Any help from the site counsel is appreciated.
Also: is it ok to apply a "warp" under the advanced edit rules?

As I understand the rules, as long as you are using a single photo, you can do anything you want to it under the Advanced Rules set except add external elements (type, clip art, etc.). Adjustments no longer have to apply to the whole picture -- you are also to use Dodge/Burn tools, masks, etc.
Note that this doesn't mean anyone else will think it's a good idea -- just that it wouldn't get DQ'd.

Thank you GeneralE.
That is also the way I understand the rules set. But the part about holding photographic integrity to the highest regard made me want to ask the question. I don̢۪t want to get DQ̢۪d, but if I do, I want to have tried to find the answer before the contest starts.
I will be the only one that can tell I changed it, but if I need to submit the original, the site counsel might be able to tell by looking at the two side by side.
Thanks again GeneralE

The "photographic integrity" is a voting criterion, not a challenge "rule" that the SC would evaluate for DQ. The voters might not like it, but we wouldn't DQ it, just like for images deemed (by some) to be "off-topic." As long as it all comes from the one image (and you can send us the original) you should be fine. |
