how about durring the voting period of a challenge, your real time rank out of all the photos is displayed along with your currnent vote and such.... it would eliminate the need for the tons of "show us your score" threads, and maybe keep the recent forum boards pumping a little smoother..

I kind of like the current score threads. A little bit of group whining helps you feel better. Sometimes.

... and would encourage voting other entries down to sneak into top 10 or ribbon territory when your just below it...

what if it just showed the current highest score in the challenge?

people would then start ' show us your score' threads :)

They can pull "my little bit of group whining" from my cold dead hands.

On the other hand, we could just whine in percentage terms!!!

You could always just use rough brackets if we are worried about voting problems. I'd be happy with a "60-65%" or "25-30%" indication, or shorthand "60%+" and "35%+". I have always thought the percentage was more meaningful anyway.

NO!!!!!!!!! lol sorry but not a good idea I like the suspense all week. rollover would loose its excitingness. Just my thoughts.

I don't think its a great idea but it may be fun. If they added a "Lock in your votes" button then you would be allowed the ability to see where you are and can't change your votes. Also to try and increase voting you would have to vote 75% minimum to see these stats. I think voting would increase a lot.

A couple of really cool ideas Joe. People might speed vote just to get to 75% but everything can't be perfect.

I think the Occupation II voting shows how valuable knowing the ranking during the week can be. Since it was a high scoring challenge, there are now a few folks ranting about being near the bottom with a 90% finish even though they scored a ~5.2, which ordinarily might be good for a 70% finish. I think it is a good idea.

That's a fun idea, as long as it's stats about oneself, only visible to oneself. Something like:

- If you're not in the challenge, you can't lock-in nor see any stats
- If you're in the challenge, min 75% to lock-in, then no more voting
- After lock-in, the status shows your rank (nobody else's). Maybe just which 10 you're in, to keep it exciting (ie: Current rank: 1-10 ... or 11-20, or 21-30)

ETA: If you don't want to see it, simply don't lock in!

I'm mixed about this idea. On one hand, it SUCKS to see your high score all week, only to find out you placed 25th and all the top entries were within .005 of each other, on the other hand, it would take some of the excitement out of rollover.

The "lock in your votes" details would basically push this into the realm of "too complicated to ever get implemented" realm, IMO.

This does give me a different, somewhat unrelated idea though.

I would be happy just to see a bar graph - even once a day - that showed how the voting was going .

Identical to the end one - but once a day - say at rollover you get a snapshot of your current breakdown, and still keep the update button for more regualr changes.

In thinking about this more and since I have an entry in voting this week, I would actually prefer the option of being put in a state of suspended animation until the voting is over. Can we do that?
