Years ago I was told birds see in black and white - is this true?

This little fellow was ignoring the bread my gf was handing out and was just facing the bank. I quite like the heavy crop, the background is just water and a rather unsightly galvanised bank, used gausian blur and hue/saturation on it.

Hmm, if he was ignoring the bread, maybe he was a decoy? ;-)
