Is the 300D IR sensitive? The Dimage7i is but when I take pictures with IR filter I get a circle in the middle of the photograph which I found out happens to all Dimage 7is. Does anything like this happen to the Rebel? I'm really interested in IR photography but don't want to waste more money on IR filters if my cameras aren't gonna take good IR photos.

From what I've read, the newer Canon cameras (PowerShot G2 and later, including SLRs) have a filter that blocks most of the light in the IR frequency range. The G1 is apparently a good camera for IR since it let's in alot more light in the IR range.
A google search may get you more information about the Rebel/300D specifically. |

Colette is correct, however you can still use the 300D for IR photography, with longer exposures. You will not be able to use "deeper" IR filters, but an R72 should work OK. Just be prepared for much longer exposure times.

It is IR sensitive, but not NEARLY as much as lower-end digital cameras. All of Canon's DSLRs (and probably other brands too, I just can't say for sure) feature what is called a hot-mirror that sits in front of your image sensor. This hot mirror is there to block IR light and keep it from influencing color in your photos.
However, like many things in this world, it is far from a perfect hot-mirror. You can still slap an IR filter in front of your lens and take IR shots. It will take exposure times of around 1 minute or more, but it is possible. This is rather long compared to say a Nikon 5000, which can take filtered IR shots in about 1 to 5 seconds in equivalent light.
So feel free to give it a try. Davidp from iphotoforum.com took a few recently with his 10D (//iphotoforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7113&highlight=10d+ir) so rest assured that it is possible... just not as easy.
