I'll be in New Orleans in a couple weeks and was just wondering what places are a must see for picture taking and the names of some good authentic New Orlean's cuisine. Thanks...

just make sure you get yourself a hurricane at pat'Onbrians

If I recall from my stay there there is swamps national park
Very nice

Also the zoo is really cool

And there are Also the plantations and night ghost tours

Man you're gonna have some fun

New Orleans is great but don't be driving late at night
Lots of crazy people
I almost got shot there once around 2am
But that's a long story

Have fun!

I live here !

"Staged" shots can be taken at the Zoo or the Aquarium of the Americas.
You can also take a swamp tour.

There are many cemetaries also.

You can go the the French Quarter and photograph the buildings, shops and streets.

Try to stay on the "beaten path". It is safe to travel alone, however, you may become lost and find yourself in an unsafe area. Don't get me wrong...there are not street gunfights here but there are some areas I avoid.

Let me know if you need particular info about the area.

Just curious...what brings you to New Orleans? I will be spending a day there in a couple of weeks as well.

It has been years since I have been there, but of course The French Quater is a great place to go with all the street personalities and talents in addition to the old buildings. Cafe Du Monde is probably a MUST for any first timer in New Orleans. The Aquarium of the Americas is one of my favorite places to visits especially on yucky hot humid summer days! Maybe someone more familiar with that area will chime in. I am more in South Central Louisiana, lots of swamps, oak groves and plantation homes in my area.

My husband is going for a work related conference and I decided to tag along. I'll have the days to myself to shoot and I'm looking very forward to it.

I'm from New Orleans, I love in East Texas now.. thanks katrina.. but New Orleans has lots of great things for you to shoot, it depends on what your style is and what your looking for, Cemetarys are really cool, especially since katrina some actually have holes in them and you can see in. and as you already know us coon asses bury people above the ground not in it like everywhere else..
jackson square make some nice shots.. ohh we just had an oil spil in the river and it's closed off so some icky water shots would be cool if you like that kind of thing.. like i said it depends on what your looking for, there's really cool old clock towers all over, the people well you can get some sights if you go at dusk to the Jackson square I was talking about from people spraypainted to dressed like fairies, the small boys tap dancing for money with bottle tops on their shoes..

like i said it all depends on what your looking for , tell me what oyu like to shoot and I can probably give you some inside scoop on where to go.
