This is a digital enhancement of the third photo presented in a I posted a little while ago. Essentially all I did was try to emulate a grad. ND filter using PS and wanted to see what your guys opinions are. Did it improve the image?

I don't know, that's kind of a tough one there. I love the orange feel of the first one a lot better. The edited one is really good in the aspect of contrast and saturation.
Here's what I am trying to say:
Image 1- I LOVE the colors, beautifully composed, could use slightly more saturation and contrast.
Image 2- Excellent Contrast, though I feel it is a bit darker.
Now, I am not sure what the colors actually looked like. Also, I am not exactly sure if you are wanting a darker feel. If yhou are, then the second shot is definetely the one you want.
Bottom Line- Personally, I like the first one a little bit better because I like how it feels a bit lighter.
PS Good job with the editing, very nicely done

I like it "before" better. The reflection of the sky in the water matches the sky, and it looks more natural to me.
I usually simulate a GND filter using a levels layer which is masked by a gradient. How did you implement your GND? Why did your method appear to change the colors rather than just the luminosity?
This could be an interesting thread to discuss different ways to implement...

Original- I like this one better because of the whiteness of the clouds looks more natural.
Enhanced- Colors are very vibrant and would probably sell a low better if both were made prints. |
