This dead creature washed up on the beach in New York. Nobody can figure out A. if it's real and B. If it is real, what exactly is it?? The picture can gross out some people, so I'll just post the link.

Looks like a mammal that lost its fur. That's all. The 'beak' is just K9 teeth.

I know what it is, I have seen one here. It is a turtle without its shell. when they are submerged in water for a long time after they die, the shell becomes soft and rotton. It will disintergrate and fall off. I have a picture of it somewhere too. It was a turtle that had been killed by a stupid human. They dumped a shopping cart in the river and a turtle has swum into it and couldnt turn itself around or swim backwards. Stupid humans

Definitely not turtle, with those teeth. This photo shows that what appears to be a beak is really the exposed skull showing the front teeth and nasal cavity.
I'm no expert but it looks raccoonish to me. Hmmm... now I think I need to haul out my wildlife biology text and look for the skeletal diagrams...

hmm i didnt see that picture, i was looking at the brown one, which looks a lot different from the other shot you are showing, fo rsure looks like a beak on the brown one. now i swear that that is a turtle, let me see if i can dig up my photo of the one that looks just the same.

now seeing the other photo, it just looks like the ear have been chewed off my fishes or they where cropped when it was alive. the gases in a body will distend any thing and make it look bad, but that second picture looks like a dog for sure.

edited to add: Yah next time I will find the artical that goes with the pictures and read it

Plum island in right off the end of Long Island and there is a lot of funky things that go on there , You can not approach the Island or fly over

Just looks like a really bloated water rat to me.

The best bet according to all kinds of discussion everywhere is that it's a raccoon. Turtle has been ruled out by some people, as has water rat, and the animal disease place on Plum has said it's not from them. That second picture looks really fake... just saying. But still animal experts are unable to definitely say what it is.
