can anyone recommend another good site where more digital images
are allowed,
rather than photos that are supposed to look like normal shots?

DeviantArt.com is the only one I know of.

You might want to try Photournament.com, a new site still trying to build members. They have an ongoing "Photo art" competition (pg. 2 of "contests").

That was one person in a very large community of people. They do photo manips, digital art, traditional art, photography all on one site, and there are some amazingly talented people there.

//www.digitalphotocontest.com has several catagories, including one for digital art. They have POTD's in each catagory & then each month, all the POTD's are voted on by members to get monthy winners.

photoforum.ru you can post just about anything there but it is not a conetst type of site, just criticism and discussion. It's russian but they provide it in english too and participants are from all over the globe.

Photo a Day at pbase. It's not a contest, but its a personal challenge; the main goal, take your best photo for the day and upload it. The ? is, how long will you last? Its fun at the same time a learning experience. Some have done its over a year now, 04/04 will be my 3rd month :) DPCer's FranziskaLang, smellyfish1002, BAMartin, Bela45 to name a few are PaDer's also.
