Hey,
i currently use a standard Nikon SLR camera and i have a great Nikon Autofocus lense. Im looking at moving to the D70 and am wondering can i use my SLR lense on the digital camera? or do digital SLR cameras require a special lense? thanks!

it depends on the lens. Most newer lenses will work i believe.

Nateconnella,

I just made this same move. I thought that I had researched everything. Well not quite.

The D70 is wonderful in your hands. Feel, weight, substance, texture...it really is a solid camera. My "D" Nikkors all autofocus with the D70. However my hot flash will not work. In fact, no hot shoe flash will work except the "New" one that is not out yet. So if you need more flash than the on camera unit, plan on the purchase of a flash (SB600 I think). I choose to use this opportunity to pick up a couple more lenses. I did not get Dx lenses. BUT, the newer electronics prevents my film camera from being able to autofocus them. So my 2 new lenses are primarily for just the D70. The newer lenses fit my older film camera and can be used if focused manually, just not in AF mode.

I seriously doubted that I would give up my film camera as it is simply a part of my soul. Very familiar with it, comfortable with the operations, use is virtually 2nd nature. However after just a short time with the D70, I can easily see it becoming my favorite. Partly because of the "feel" and partly because of the magnificent lenses I got. I never would have acquired these lenses if it were not for the D70 purchase.

So take note. The D70 is a wonderful consideration. Just know that the budget you have set aside for it, will need to be at least double and perhaps triple or more if you catch the FEVER.
