Does anybody know the HP Pavillion lineup to tell me the difference between the dv9900 series and the dv9700 series? Is one simply newer than the other? Newegg has the dv9910us for sale, but I cannot find it on the HP site so I don't know if it's simply last year's model.

Also, do people have opinions about HP Pavillion laptops in general? I'm looking to get one soon.

I have a DV9000 myself; got it last year (or maybe the first first of this year? Time flies -- I'm not positive), and is the first new system I've bought in years. ROCKS. Oh, it rocks hard.
Is there anything specific you'd like to know about them? I got this one mainly because my employer is in the employee discount program, so I saved another $500 or so off the list price.

One general recommendation I'll make, and of course like everything your opinion (and the opinions of others) may vary -- build your own configuration online rather than getting one of the prebuilt setups. One of the areas HP excels in is their online configuration tool. Easy to "play" with different setups, and easy to understand what changes cost incrementally. I've always found they make lots of compromises in those prebuilt systems to keep costs down, and most people might not care or realize, but if you really want to make your box perform, the few extra hundred bucks "un-compromising" it can really make the difference.

Just bought a DV9970EF (750€). If anyone needs information on it... you're welcome!
