I am going to be in Augusta, GA for August and September. I have looked on-line, and found some things I would like to see and photograph, but any information from someone who knows the city would help. I have also tried to find out if there is a camera club, but haven't found one yet. If anybody has suggestions and/or advice I would be very appreciative! |

Probably not. It's a small town. About all I know is that the Masters is played there in the early spring. And it's where I cut southward into South Carolina when I drive to my mom's in Charleston.
Pack an air conditioner. It's brutally hot in August. |

The old Augusta Canal is a very neat area for some photos and the Savannah River adjacent to the city offers a few nice shots as well. You might also go east across the river to Aiken, SC (about 20 minutes) where many of the thoroughbreds spend the fall and winter, there are several polo grounds, and lot of tree lined dirt roads to protect the horses hooves rather than paved roads. Also just west of Augusta a bit is Washington, GA, beautiful old antebellum homes and a recently restored 19th century hotel. There also is a very old Golf Club in Aiken that is very pictureseque. Enjoy! |

Plan a day to get up to Atlanta. Its about a 2-2.5 hour drive, and you'd probably get quite a few takers for a shooting day over there. CTCurry99 lives down that way. He is fun to shoot with, and probably knows the area pretty well.
