Sorry if I'm being an annoying brat :P but this is all getting so frustrating- i haven't gotten anything like above a 5.5 and even that was a miracle-my 2 submissions now are at 4.4 and i was really proud of those 2. i've put a lot of effort into all these photos and i feel like i'm wasting me time sometimes- i need a pick me up :P tell me i didn't waste my moola :D |

Seriously.
I was so sure, with my motion blur I was going to get my first over a 6, but I'm at a 4.5, which is better than the 3.3 it started at. And I have nothing but good comments on it. What gives.
Also, on my Out of Place, it started at a 6.3 when I went to bed, with 25 votes, now I'm at a 5.3. I'm so bummed.
I try and be different most of the time, and I am, because people say that, still, different just must not be good, 'cause I get low scores all the time. |

Don't value your worth on a 1-10 scale :) |

Dont get to obsest by your ratings here. Reed some photography books and magasines and relax and try to enjoy taking photos. Thats what this is about, not some ratings. Also consider the comments you get and try to learn something from them and other things that are happening here on this site. |

Liz, don`t take it to heart..I doubt if there are many people on the site who don`t feel like you do right now at some point....I know I certainly do...regularly.
The two submissions I have going at the moment are causing me to feel the same frustration...but as my little bit of success in the "Four Elements" challenge proved..you don`t have to be among the elite photographers to produce a winner.
Success can be around the corner and often with an image that you think might not do too well.

As long as YOU are happy with you photograph, and you have created an image that makes you smile, it should not matter what other people vote. Take the comments to heart and be happy.

I know how you feel... i love my photos too but unfortunately the reality is that not everyone shares the same opinion. Anyway, what really counts is that we enjoy our photographs. Plus, DPC helps you to become creative (IMO) :D I do find your pictures very creative and hoping to see more of your work.. keep it up and hope to see you with a ribbon soon!

Well, you probably get more frustrated as time goes by. The "1" voters seem to be in town right now, holy smoke, the average is dropping fast, even with 147 votes already present.
Still a good rating, but not as good as I had hoped for. I still like my picture though, very much.

You know it's weird, I think they get out of bed at the same time. Something definitely not right about this picture (only a pun if you want it to be).

When I started photography with my little point and shoot camera most of the pictures I took were great... to me. They were the best things I had ever taken and I was proud of them. As the months went by and I learnt more things my older pictures were starting to look worse and my new stuff was better. Compared to people who had been doing photography for years my stuff still sucked, but to me it was the best I could do. 14 months and a new camera later I still feel the same way.
DPC is comparing you to others who have the best equipment and been doing photography for a long long time. They may all be individual pictures but the overall standard is set by the better images (or even the dead and greats to some). Whether your score is 4.4 or 7.4 if it is better than your previous submissions or better than your average then you are improving. If you feel it is the best picture you have taken then it probably is. Is it the best picture on DPC? Nope, not necessary, but that doesnt mean you wont ever reach that point either.

The first photo I ever submitted is the one that has scored the best.. haha.
