I have a job to take communion portraits of a little girl.
Does anyone have any examples or suggestions for it?
Are there any special shots that need to be taken for this, that are different from a regular portrait session?
Sorry to sound naive, but I'm not Catholic.

It will be done outdoors unless bad weather.

Terry,
are they having you photograph the ceremony ? and are they going into a church? treat it sorta like a wedding. get some shots of the child going into the church etc. when i was young, and had my first communion, all i remember is that there was a photographer, and at one point i had to have my picture taken in my communion "suit" (the girls get a dress), with a background that was very church like. i don't remember any shots being done in the church itself.

wish i could offer a little more advice. if all they want is a communion portrait, i'd suggest doing a portrait session with the girl in her communion dress, and have her say holding a rosary with her hands in a praying position... possibly with a crucifix of some sort in the background.

good luck!

No I'm not photographing the ceremony, or at the church.
Hmmm....now that you mention it, a church in the background might be nice.
It's just portraits, probably being done in the park.

What I'd really like to see is anyone who has portraits they have taken , or shots they had done of their kids.

Google search on "Communion portraits" and you'll get some good ideas for poses and settings.
