I'm looking to pick up either the Opteka IR filter or the Hoya IR filter, if anyone has used either of these filters, what one would you get, and which one produces better results. I've looked around online and what I've seen was the Hoya works amazing with the E-500, but i havent seen any results with the Opteka, any input would help, thanks Jake,
also for a circular polarizer, any negatives on sunpak brandor are they something to stay away from?

I shoot a converted camera but from all research I did the Hoya is the route to go for best results. |

I was gonna get the Opteka because of the price but no one seemed to have any in stock when i tried to buy one so you might want to see if those are available now. People with the E-500 seemed to like it so that's why I considered it. But I wanted one before a shoot so I just ordered the Hoya. I'm pretty happy with it! |

looks like i'll be ordering the hoya R72, i google'd it and the hoya seems to be giving better tone depth, here is a funny little fact i found about the IR filters when used with some sony camcorders "The first Sony camcorders could shoot Nightshot in the day. Then Sony found that people were using the camcorders to see through some clothing, so they changed the camcorders to have a fully open aperture in Nightshot mode."
Thanks all who responded:) |
