I've had a batch of images on fotolia "in queue" and "awaiting validation" since 6/6. Have I missed something dumb that I need to do, or does it normally (or now, at least) take this long for them to approve images?

One or the other of those groups may be lacking keywords, a release, or some other detail. I think their typical review time is probably more like 2-5 working days.

that seems like a while to wait. I normally only wait 2 or 3 days. My first entries took about 5 days I think.

I agree. I've been waiting about 2-3 days too.

Hmm -- thanks for confirming. I guess I'll write their support; I don't have any way to edit or change the file info now for any of them (all edit links are unavailable) -- must have got them in some funky limbo state somehow.

I'd be interested to know how you do as far as acceptance goes. I uploaded fifteen new shots two days ago and all got denied on the basis of "too full of catagory." Same as my last six submissions.

As far as approvals (or in my recent case denials) I usually hear in 24 hours.

I finally received a reply from fotolia support. They said my account has not been "validated" yet, but did not give me any explanation or instructions on what to do next.

I filled out all the profile info, replied (or clicked on the link in) the email they sent, I uploaded a photo of my drivers license... Does anyone else remember something more specific you had to do to "validate" your account?

Their support is pretty paltry. They put that one-liner of advice "Please validate your account" in one of my support tickets and closed it. They paste the instructions on how to ftp (which I explicitly said I already followed) into my ftp ticket and closed it, too.

I'm sure this issue with account validation, whatever it is, is the same issue causing my inability to ftp.

At some sites you have to log in using a link which they email you at the time of registration. If that email went to your SPAM folder, you might not have followed that link yet.

They've been a bit bizarre with the approvals lately. One picture I sent them, they sent me a weird rejection saying how much they loved the image, how unique it was, etc., but it wouldn't fit into their specific type of sales categories. I also sent a few fireworks shots, one they accepted, the others they said they had too many of. The one they took got sold in large size the next day.

And 123RF is worse, they post up what they accept, but they never tell you why they reject the others. No emails saying anything was accepted or rejected.

edit to change two to too, lol...

Yup, did that -- my "My Profile" page showed "email verified" the whole time.

They must have finally flipped the flop switch or whatever they need to do, as my account is now "approved" and my photos started getting evaluated today. I think someone just overlooked something on my account and my recent barrage of help tickets finally hit someone who knew what to do. Either way, I didn't do anything "new" and my account is approved. Whatever. :P

Since I had just joined (over two months ago now), I only uploaded 5 images to test the water and see how the site worked, etc. Now they they are finally checking them out, two were declined for "aesthetic quality" and another declined for "Overabundant photo category." One approved, one still in queue. All five have been accepted on other sites. So, again... Whatever. :P

Doesn't sound like I'll be doing a lot with fotolia, and if I have any more account or administrative issues, I think I'll just give up -- trying to work with their support is just too frustrating.

ftp works fine now, too, as I expected.
