Hello everyone!

I know its been a while since I have posted on these forums, but work was calling.
I recently quit my job and have created a number of small companies.

Long story short one of these companies is for web hosting and I had a ton of extra server space available so
I have created a free online community for Canadian Photographers!

I am using industry leading software which allows us to have
* Profiles with Pictures
* Galleries
* Classifieds (this is the one I am most excited about since I love buying old equipment)
* Events Calendar (if we decide to do meet and greets)
* Live Chat
* Private Messenger
* And Much More...

We have set up all the forums and groups and everything is just about ready to go

So if your Canadian and would like to join our free community please visit

//www.cdnphoto.net

Hope to see you there soon!

PS Thanks To DPChallenge admins for allowing me to create a post!
You guys are awesome and your support will not be forgotten

One small thing in the terms and conditions:

All files and content are copyrighted by the Canadian Copyright Act and may not be used with out
the permission of the creator or site admin's

Do you really mean that if someone asked the site admin for permission to use a photo they could grant it without asking the photographer?
07/20/2008 12:37:37 AM · #9
No its for the content that admin's can grant permission but not photos
I will write it out more clearly but needed something up legally before we launched

I just noticed that my images get a CDNphoto.com watermark. I'm not to keen on this idea. It's like the site is taking credit for my work. I don't even mark my stuff and do not want to see others do it. Is there any way we can opt out of that? Or at least let us choose what goes onto our photo?

*** UPDATE ***

Watermark is now turned off on CDNPhoto

Thanks for the suggestion

Not to be a dick but phpFOX is hardly industry leading software =) One of my clients had purchased it to build a site with and they had TONS of problems when they went over 1000 (or so) users. The site would chugg and the server would crash. The ISP eventually forced them to take down the site (and I was called in to fix it).

It's been a year or so since I had to work on it though.

I will also be joining up though.

I have used the script successfully for over 10 000 people with no problems. A lot of that could be due to the server they were running. Our current server at its rate could hold currently 100 000 members with out slowing down all connected at pretty much the same time.

We have 2 dual core processors running at 2.33ghz, 8 gigs of ram, 2000GB of space
I wish my home pc was like that but wouldnt need the 2 terabites of space lol

Also the newest version of PHPfox which we are running is much more efficient :)
and we do a database optimization every 7 days and disk clean up

So don't worry about the site chugging it just won't happen lol

PS. Thanks for joining

My main concern for the site would be to keep the Americans out. They have funny accents, their beer sucks, and they can't play hockey. Does the website have any anti-American-access systems, such as a way to detect Yankees and send a strong electrical shock through their mouse if they try to access the site?
07/24/2008 09:52:43 PM · #22
Yes their monitor will blow up and spread shrapnel into the room...
but thats just because its powered by Canadian Beer ;)
