Here are the samples (100 %)

pretty obvious isn't it?

Nota: the Nikon 12-24 will deliver the right-side pictures right away!

Sure is - I am glad my copy is a bit better than yours...
Here is a recent example (100%) from my D300 with the tokina - not must if any CA that I can see

I've heard that the D300 somewhat "fixes" (?) CA from any lens.

And that it's not common to get any CA from any lens on a D300 body...

That's just what I've heard..

That's what I heard too! Can you tell us Bassbone if the D300 body correct some amount of CA ?

Thanks

It sounds like the CA reduction is more effective if applies as a NEF to JPEG conversion fix than an in-camera fix. Here are a couple of threads I found on the topic...

The in-camera CA reduction available with the D300 (applicable to JPEG images) has little discrimination, so it may try to remove CA that is actually not there.

I guess the Nikon NX software is the key to reducing CA. By the way, I have added the Nikon NX software to my workflow - it makes my workflow longer, but Elements 3.0 does not recognize the D300 NEF images, so I am stuck with it!

What is a good Nikon landscape lens (it doesn't even have to be AF or anything, I love the old MF lenses), and how much can I expect to pay for it?

I feel my ability to take landscape shots is currently hindered greatly by my lack of lenses that focus clearly at infinity.

You might want to give Sigma 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX Aspherical DG HSM for Nikon a try.
