Last October I took a picture of Manzanita Lake in Lassen National Park (Northern California). I have recently been told that it is far superior to the poster of the same location that is currently being sold at the gift shops at Lassen. What would be the best way to market my photo to the gift shops? Should I have a poster designed and then contact them? Or, should I contact to see if there's any interest before putting in the time? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. |

I think the first question is: Who told you it was superior to the other poster?
Next is to figure out who's in charge about the merchandising and check if there's interest.

Yes, well...I hesitated to mention this in the first place for obvious reasons. However, the person who told be this is in the photo. He is in a kayak partway across the lake. His likeness cannot be made out, however, so there is no reason to believe he'd have any interest at all in the photo other than for personal use. He already has a copy of the photo which I traded for the use of his likeness (backed up with a signed agreement). He is a professional man who lives in the area of the photo, and I trust his integrity. So, now that the first question is answered, I guess I'll get started on the second. Thanks. |

Oh, sorry, I didn't mean to be rude or anything.
I just meant that for instance parents / sisters / friends always will say your work is fabulous.
But that doesn't always mean that that is the truth.
You know what I mean?

They actually have an online store run through Yahoo with several images for sale. Their contact information is listed as well. I'm guessing they could direct you to in-store opportunities.
