One of my friends sisters just bought a Rebel XT (body only) and was interested in buying my kit lense. What is a fair price?

The stabilized version of that lens that now comes with the Rebel XSi sells on it's own for about $175 (list). So, I would guess a used, non-stablized kit lens would be fair at around 1/2 that amount. Maybe a touch less, certainly no more.

The kit lens is not bad unless you are comparing it to aftermarket offerings that cost much more. It is as good or better than the built in lens on my S5. It depends on what you are used to. I maintain it's not junk. (Warning: dead horse ahead!)

Yes, the 18-55. And this is a USED. NON IS version.
Just wanting a fair price. Thanks for the posts so far.

alright..i will offer mine for $50

It is going to my 'Camera Fund'. I am saving up and selling alot of stuff to afford either a 40D or a 5D and a really nice lense. Still haven't decided which lense.

I really like portraits....but I have a 50mm 1.8.....so suggestions on a lense would be nice.

The 50mm is an excellent portrait lens on a 40D. Not so much on a 5D.

I was really happy to get about $60 on ebay for mine.

The Canon 85mm f/1.8 is an amazing Portrait lens! If money were no object then the Canon 85mm f/1.2L would be the ultimate portrait lens.
