So I have pretty much updated all of my gear except for my camera body. We shoot mostly weddings and portraits. We now have all L lenses, flashes w/ backups, just got the Busy Bee setup from alien bees etc... etc...

I still have the rebel XT. The plan is to buy a new body before I shoot a wedding on Aug 2. Originally I was waiting for the final release of the new 5D, but I don't think its going to happen in time.

What to do? Buy the current 5D or do people recommend something else.

you could buy the 40D and then use it as your backup after the newer 5D comes out and you buy it.

I'd second the 40d .... unless you really *need* full frame now the 40d has more bells and whistles and has a more up to date sensor technology etc

I just went through the same debate and decided to get the 40D. Unfortunately all the local stores are out of stock and it's too late to have once shipped for my shoot on Saturday morning.

i have been thinking about the 40D too, and it seems to be the way to go. Anything right now is a step up from my XT w/ 60K shots on it (I think, its rolled over so many times i really don't know, but its a lot).
