My question is whether using the following tool to convert to B&W in PSP X2 is legal under Basic Editing Rules.

PSP X2/Effects/Photo Effects/Black and White Film...

This question was raised during one of the B/W or Duotone Challenges (same applicable Basic Editing rules) and at that time it was mentioned that this specifically would be ok as it applied to the entire image without selections. Now after reading karmat's post earlier, the use of this tool is not so clear anymore. :-/

Global color adjustments, noise and desaturation are all legal, so it shouldn't be a problem unless the tool uses selections, layers, or simulates some obvious effect like texture.

That's what I thought also...just the placement of the dang thing (under the 'Effects' menu) combined with karmats post, had me doing a double-take. :-)
