I'm sure this has been covered in the past. But.... I saw this image DQ'd:

Apparently the reason for DQ was because Nikon Transfer software was used to move the file from the camera to the hard drive. I long ago eliminated this possibility by moving my files directly from the CF card to the hard drive. But.... I was curious.

I did a byte by byte compare of two files I loaded onto my computer. I created two folders and placed the same jpg out of my D200 into both folders. One folder I dragged the file straight from the CF card to the folder. The other I used Nikon Transfer to move. I then used a program called Duplicate Finder V3.4 in byte for byte mode to compare the two files. This program found the files to be identical.

I'm curious what tools the SC uses to determine if a file has been modified. Of course this is probably like a request of the Bush administration to tell me which version of Carnivore they are using to track my online exploits. heheheheheh

My question is: Was the image DQ'd because the tool SC uses detected a modified file... Or because the image author indicated Nikon Transfer software was used?

My test files are available if anyone in the SC is interested.
