I'm leaning towards getting a new 40D. Was reading up on it, and one of the user reviews mentioned that it did not have a remote release?
I'm wondering if the person meant that there is no way to use a cable/remote with the camera, or they meant that one was not included in the basic kit?
Since it has up to 30 seconds on the shutter, and bulb capability, I can't imagine that Canon would design it with the need to hold the button down.
Is there remote capability for this camera?
Thanks!

| It has a plug for the canon remote releases, same as the 20D and 30D. |

That is right, only bear in mind that as the other Canon high-end DSLRs it has no infrared remote. You have to either use a cable or buy one of the more expensive wireless remote from canon (or cheaper HK ones) |

No Infra-Red capabilities on this. You can use the camera's self-timer or use manual settings for long exposures,
but you will need a wired or wireless remote Yeah, losta' folks complain about that one. |

Yea, a remote release is something I would definitely consider an essential item. It's one of the 1st things I bought in addition to the battery grip.
I went with the Canon RS-80N3. I would have liked the Canon TC80N3 for the "set it, and forget it" timer function, but can't justify that high of a cost. |

I ordered a Phottix wireless remote and couldn't be happier. Was able to use it during the 4th of July fireworks and didn't have to touch the camera. Also has a bulb mode which really helps with night shots. I think it was the c8 flavor that i ordered and i got it from someone on the net as i needed it in a hurry and couldn't wait to have it shipped from Hong Kong. I actually got it from Teamspeed...here's a link.
