Quick question about EXIF data...
If using a reversed lense to take a macro photo, is it legal to submit or would the EXIF data be incorrect?

I don't think it's a problem; quite often I use manual lenses that don't give any lens-related EXIF data at all; but all of the rest of the camera EXIF will still be there. I can't see them discriminating against you because you used a manual lens technique. |

I guess if I ever use this for a challenge, I can submit the original with details of how I captured the image to SC, so to avoid a problem later on. Thanks!

It's always helpful if you enter your editing steps in the "additional info" area when you enter in the first place -- often we don't even have to see your original to validate, depending on what type of potential violation is being investigated.
I always include that information on my entries for two other reasons: I don't have to try and remember later what I did, and it adds to any possible educational value for people viewing the image later -- mutual education is, after all, the mission of the site. |

I really appreciate it when people add the info to the comment section. It means a lot when the photoshop gurus will share as I never know exactly what to do. Seeing steps like "Create B/W Layer from Green Channel and blend using multiply" entices me to try to see what this does. I learn so much from this type of exercise.
Just a thanks to those who do it and a request to those who don't! |
