If this holds up, and it's still early, it might bump out my other Free Study in my top 5. |

My studio shot is sucking along at 5.2, and I put a lot of work into it and thought it would likely score about my average (5.7).
My FS seems to be flying higher and higher and is in danger of reaching the thin air, where it will no doubt suffer from lack of oxygen and plummit back to the earth with a resounding SPLATT!
ETA: my alternative metaphor was of Icarus and his wings of wax, but it seemed way to smart for me....lol

Uhhh....NO! You come over here and make him a redeye! :-)
Actually he's very lucky I'm such a suck. I was slicing up raw meat to make beef jerky and he got lots of scraps with the big sad blue eyes thing. He is the world's most spoiled cat - his canned food costs a bomb, his diet dry food slightly less. I give him daily doses of Ubavet for his joints and colostrum for his immune system. Even his water is laced with lyseine, so he better not be complaining! Thank gawd Lily doesn't have a taste for human food or I'd be broker than I already am! |

Awesome scores there Kelli and David !!
My FS is holding steady at 5.2 - about average for me, and higher than I'd expected being it's a FS.
My studio portrait is sucking along at 4.7 - with two comments both saying "Too much ____", with which I fully agree. I've posted an alternately processed version in my workshop already, which I like MUCH better, but it didn't fall within the rules.
Also - today was my hubby's first day at his new job, and I'm anxiously awaiting his return home to hear how it went. I think I was as anxious as he was about it !

Bought a new lens.
Nikkor AF-S DX VR 18-200/3.5-5.6G ED
Traded in ALL my others. I take my camera everywhere, and I hate changing lenses. I also hate compromising what I really want for some addled sense of responsibility to NOT spending too much. If I'd have just bought this lens two years ago, I wouldn't have wasted the time and money I did on others.
I have ONE body and ONE lens. That's what I want.

I've wanted this lens since I first heard about it. I've had it for about six hours and I freakin' LOVE it.

Perhaps you all know this already, but I've been out of touch for a while. I just discovered that Svetlana's portfolio is gone. Now that's a BUMMER ! She's still registered, but didn't renew her membership. |

Aw no! Not Svetlana! :-( That girl takes the most incredible shots...does this mean photos of hers that I've faved are now gone too?
Wow, Jeb, that looks like an amazing lens. Maybe if I win the lottery I'll add it to my collection - I don't know if I could just trade in all my other lenses!

Hubby started his new job yesterday. He went in for 7am, only to be told that they hadn't expected him to start until the following week ! I guess they haven't heard back from the lab about the results of his physical yet.
But they opted to let him start anyhow, and got him set up with safety shoes, coveralls, mask and all those good things. He's dealing with mixing chemicals of all kinds (he mentioned 99% acetic acid, sour oil, lime, and more).
He got home a bit before 8 last night, said he was tired and sore, there's lots of walking that he's not used to anymore, and lifting and such. He didn't seem crazy about the job - it's not what he'd had in mind at all, having only dealt with automotive stuff in the past. But he seemed to like the people he was working with yesterday.
He figured out what his schedule will be though - it's a 4-week schedule that repeats (for sake of ease, we'll say that this week was week 1, and the schedule starts on Sunday). The shifts are 12-hour shifts. Days is 7am-7pm and nights is 7pm-7am.
It's like this :
Week 1 : -- | -- | -- | days | days | -- | --
Week 2 : nights | nights | -- | -- | -- | days | days
Week 3 : days | -- | nights | nights | -- | -- | --
Week 4 : -- | days | days | -- | nights | nights | nights
Apparently they worked out the schedule like this so that the guys have every other weekend off. Which is nice, as long as my work doesn't have me working EVERY weekend - we'll see how open they are to my new availability.
It'll be nice if I can still manage to pick up a couple of shifts a week. Not a lot in terms of money, but I really enjoy the job and hope that I can stay on there. The discount will be nice come Christmas too of course *g*

HI CHRIS!!! Long time no hear from!!
Lea, glad to hear the hubby's job is going OK! Tell him that half the battle is liking who you work with. The rest is gravy. Gotta say I'd have to have that schedule written down and posted on the 'fridge or something. WAY too confusing! But does look like it provides a nice variety of days and number of days off, which is good! |
