I got this virus/bug on my computer
and I can not get rid of it. I use the free edition AVG7.5. I run it in Safe mode as well. It appears when I use IE and, more scary, when I open any folder from my desktop. The AVG found 2 trojans and it lists the shell32.dll as changed all the time.
If I click OK it pops up this
that directs me to this a website spywareadvancedscanner.com
Any suggestions? And what is it? Does it affect online transactions!!!
Highly appreciated,
Thanks

Those look like fake popup warnings to me - never trust any virus warnings that don't come from your antivirus software. My advice would be to ignore them and make sure you've got the 'block popups' option in IE enabled. Or you could change to a different browser... :)

Yeah they look fake to me as well. I would suggest buying some real antivirus software. |

I use Firefox for a long time. Rarely I use IE. But now the bug appears even when I try to open any folder on my computer.
Thanks for the reply.

I might go out now and buy Kaspersky's AV...

You might also want to try running a good anti-malware/spyware scanner, such as Spybot Search & Destroy or Ad Aware as well an antivirus.

Try this thread halfway down. Someone had the same problem and found a site there solved the problem for several members. Linky
//www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.phpDirect link that solved the problem.
Hope this helps.

I agree with everyone else, it looks like a ploy to get you to try some virus software that you'll have to pay for in order to remove any of the problems it finds. Try downloading Super Anti Spyware, its free and very effective. It catches stuff AVG and Spybot misses. Here's a link for the free edition: Super Anti Spyware. It's solved a lot of problems for me. |

There's a program out there called combofix that i used with a friends PC before to fix this same type of issue. You must follow the directions very closely but it does an awesome job eliminating this type of stuff. Type it in Google and i'm sure you'll locate it rather fast. |

Thank you all guys. The //www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php did the job. The thing is gone. Uff relieved!
I'll pay more attention in future (or switch to Mac soon)
Thanks again!

Just to repeat what has been previously said, yes it is a popup ad, made to look like a system dialog. As has been said before, it's a good idea to change to Firefox (or anything other than IE) and use it's built in popup blocker. There are also lots of exptensions for firefox that can help in blocking some of the trickier ads.
There are also some very good freeware spyware scanners. I periodically run Adaware and Spybot S&D |

Had the same problem a couple of months ago....AVG and Adware wouldn't touch it.
I found this one:
Super Antispyware
One pass and it caught it.
And it's free. |

AVG (at least the paid version) is up to version 8.0
IIRC, the free version is also at version 8. //free.avg.com/ww.download-avg-anti-virus-free-edition
