....change the default on my computer?
It always opens up with Outlook, but I would rather it open in Gmail.
I have a PC, XP driven, with firfox and IE 7.

You want to use the Gmail site to read you mail or use outlook to read your gmail?
You can adjust it from
> Start
>Control Panel
> Mail
Create a new connection. If that is the road you want to go down!
If not then I don't know off the top of my head, I would have to play with it to see if I could figure it out. Maybe someone else knows.

Could you possibly be talking about the mailto: links? If you are (it's any normal email address that's clickable) then I don't think there's anything to do about it really - not that I know of at least. They will always use your computers mail program to open (which is Outlook by standard) and Gmail is an 'online' mail client, not a downloadable program for your computer, therefore it can't be done.
But if anyone out there is more of a geek than me (that's very possible), then please correct me... |

This link will tell you how to do it. It works very well for me as I choose to use Gmail just for Firefox and I use Outlook for IE.

It really depends on whether you want to use webmail or a dedicated e-mail program.
If you use webmail, you have to go through a browser, if you use an e-mail client such as Outlook/OE, Eudora, or the like, then you just set up your preferences in your e-mail program.
Outlook/OE is the default in Windoze, so you have to specifically choose another.

| If you mean you want it on the start button as the default mail reader, right click on the start button and click on properties. Under the general tab there is an option to set your email program. |
