So, I was at my daughter's first horse show and my youngest daughter asked if she could take a picture. I let her push the button and it never stoppped clicking. Now, everytime I put the batteries in it just keeps clicking and gives me the ERR 99 message.
Has anyone else had this happen? If so, what was the problem and how much was it to fix?
I'm ordering the 40D tonight, but I don't know if I'll be able to handle waiting for it! |

Err 99 could be anything - have you tried another lens, or cleaning the lens/body contacts? Tried another battery?
You'll love the 40D so much you won't care about the 20D at all. It's SOOOO much faster, better focus, huge LCD in comparison to what you're use to. Enjoy the new toy!

I've done everything. Tried every lens tried all my batteries. The mirror just keeps flipping up and down. Oh well...
I really want to buy it from my local shop, but they are selling it for $1100 and I can get it for $940.00 on B&H... Just can't justify the price difference. |

Shutter needs replacing.
You can get it done for about $200, or buy the shutter assembly for $50 and do it yourself as
I'm going to do to my 350D that died from the same dreaded fate after 50K+ shots.

| Your daughter obviously possesses a paranormal electrical field. This could be the result of alien abduction. I'd contact the FBI immediately and ask for Fox Mulder ;) |

This could explain her ability to make me do whatever she wants by smiling and giving me her "look"...

I have heard of this occurring and mine has done it a couple of times - The button can get stuck down a bit... wriggle it around and see if it comes up a little. Now whether it's perm stuck or not I don't know and it could be a dead shutter....

I have had this problem, try taking off the lens, waiting 20 seconds, with camera off and trying again.
Sometimes it resets
ooops see you have tried that

You might as well take that money you had for the 40D and hand it over to her now...
I've seen that look before. You don't stand a chance. |

I couldn't wait... plus I had to enter the challenge tonight, so I went and bought it. Penn Camera had one for $999.99, so I juts bought that. With overnight shipping it would have been $50.00 less via B&H... oh well...
Tried it out really quick and WOW! That is one fast camera... |

Congrats on the new camera. Sorry you couldn't wait. Maybe you could buy the other one and get the savings then take the current one back, hahaha
