I'm sure it's something common, but have no idea what this is. There were quite a few of these scattered along the hiking trail - look like huge dandelions gone to seed.
Anyone?

Think dandelion on steroids - they were at least 10x bigger than a normal dandelion, went through myother shots but don't have any that show a comparison. |

Interesting, I'd never heard it called that name, but it's right there in the article on Salsify (which I've known as "Oyster Plant"). The roots are edible. |
