I have my new EF 28-135 IS lens and I love it, except for the fact that when it's in the bag, or I'm carrying it, the zoom creep is bad enough that it almost always extends out to 100mm or more. Sure, it's not a major issue, but it is annoying.

What do you guys do to deal with zoom creep?

Superglue :)

what actually works well... is a nice strong ruber band on the lens it tightens the lens up alittle bit.. so it wont rotate as easily

Buy primes? ;)

My lenses don't creep that I notice, but I don't understand why it's a problem. Can you explain?

I used a really thick rubber band, the kind that little girls wear as bracelets

My camera bag has a movable divider which can attach to the insides of the bad in several places with Velcro -- if you have something like that, make a compartment into which the lens fits snugly at its smallest size. If you don't have that, get something soft and light (new household sponge should do) and wedge in as many pieces as needed to held the lens in position in your bag. Note: I'm presuming you have lens caps on both ends of this thing! Otherwise, put the sponges in a plastic bag first ...

Eh, it just bugs me more than anything.

Thanks for the suggestions, guys!

Yep, that's my system, too. Actually, other than my longest lens, the others go in vertically. That is, when I'm wearing it, they're horizontal. that is, their length goes from my back away from my body, not up and down.

Another trick in the bag is just to put a rubber band around the lens lengthwise. As GeneralE says, assuming you have both caps. Not as helpful for when you're carrying it. :)
