BTW, here is how we coordinated a similar project a couple years ago.

The music was just added when the voice recording were compiled. I don't see a need to send out tracks to everyone before recording the voices - the song is pretty simple and works even if simply spoken.

Hey! Didn't you read a line of DPC Christmas?

Super, Art. Thanks!!!
We can work with the submitted images from the other thread and let people offer alternates then select the favorites. I told discovery 60 seconds, but WTH, let me talk with John about running time and we can work out the number of verses. (Unless Patrick wants to do a run through for timing.)

Hmmm - why do we need to involve Discovery channel? Are we doing this for their use? They already have an open invitation to submit your video on YouTube - seems like that's all we need to do and there is no limit on length. If they end up wanting to use it for TV, they would have to still ask our permission. Also - the images in the other thread were mostly used without permission -- we would need to get permission from each of the image owners if we are going to post this outside of DPC.

I think Art is correct.

I can't sing worth a darn, but I would love to see one of my images included.

Upon further review, the call on the field is overturned.
I don't think we should aim at a symphonic opus, however a standard pop single length about 3 minutes should provide time for a lot of images to be displayed.

Still LOVE that project. :) Although having to pronounce "phalange" on beat was tough.

One thing I just thought of is that in the original version there are several people that appear just to add their own "boomdeyada", so we have room for those who might like to contribute a self portrait and a sound bit.

Both my voice and most of my photos are so-so, but I'd love to contribute something.

I'm sure bear_music could provide a "boomdeyada". I can provide a voice, too. <"¤">

Sending like a basic track (not necessarily a finished thing) for ppl to figure out the key and the tempo would be helpful.

I have only just woken up and I am a bit fuzzed out at the moment....trying to get ready for a hectic two days of work. But I can handle this job....if someone else wants to make the decisions as to who does what....and then get them sent to me in mp3 format and I will do the editing together. Does that sound fair?

Thanks Judi, I got the editing covered.

Niko Records

Of course the project would be complete without one of your outstanding images and your dulcet tones.

No worries...just let me know what I have to do.

For all you vocal artists, i just got this from the audio engineer:

With MELODYNE, I can not only change their pitches, but I can adjust their timing. The only concern would be the quality of the audio of their contributions. How would they record their voices? For example, a cheap cassette recording probably wouldn't do. They've got to capture themselves in such a way that a good quality WAVE file results.

Any suggestions?

In the past, all we have done is recorded it straight on our own computers as an MP3. This has been a better recording and sufficient for the editor to clean up. And the files aren't generally too big for the emailing standards.

Any of my images are available and the only vocals I can do is that I can sound like Willie Nelson (my son's opinion).

you can tell him mine will be excellent quality and in key already lol.....

I can̢۪t offer much in the singing department, but I will offer a suggestion. First decide on your lyrics, then figure out how many, of what type of images you need (landscape, portraits, macro ECT.) maybe break them down further to (macro-bugs, macro flower ECT.) Then start a new thread and ask for offerings, if the response is too large break it down by vote.
