I recently decided to start a savings account since my second daughter is on the way and current conventional wisdom is that I'll need money for their college, God-forbid weddings, and all that stuff.

I started with ING Direct. The cool thing is, since I opened an account with more that $250, they added 25$ free. It also has a 3% interest rate and absolutely no fees, commitments, or minimums.

ADDITIONALLY if I refer people and they open a savings account, they get the 25$ and I get $10! (it must be 250$ or more first deposit)

I usually wouldn't post stuff like this but it's a great way to start a savings account and is certainly a better rate than you will get from the stock market right now!
