A popular perch for a red-shouldered hawk. |

Can I borrow him? Maybe the squirrels won't eat out of my bird feeders anymore! |

It looks like you have him tied at the feet to the bird feeder. That will sure save on buying bird seed. LOL!
Nice shot.

I stopped feeding the birds last year because a couple of hawks would hide in the trees just waiting to scoop up my little birds and leave me with a pile of feathers! |

So you have a dual purpose feeder. The song birds are fed and the hawks get an occasional meal.
And really, I am not trying to be sadistic here. Hawks need to eat too and that is their prey. If they don't eat the birds at your feeder, they will kill and eat something else somewhere else. All part of nature. |

We fixed that by continuing to fill the feeder (a squirrel "proof" one no less)...... The bastards are too fat and trigger the close door now :-/ |

Yes I know, I'm a big fan of nature and fully understand the need for the food chain. I probably invited the hawks by occasionally throwing out some meat ;) I did stop feeding the birds last summer because I was tired of cleaning up feathers all over my deck for each kill which was almost daily!
