Welcome to the fun. Do lots of creeping, slow walks just looking/observing. I find something new each time afield. Nice Canada Goose. Best of luck. Van

I only had my 18-55mm with me, so I had to get SUPER close. I could have touched him hehe. Thanks

In case you want to see a few bird shots, take a look at my bird gallery.
Thats not bad for your first time, but I suggest you get a longer lens as it will make it easier. Even a 105mm will work just fne as many of mine were shot with that.

Trust me, I know. If I didnt spend $1500 dollars for the Camera/Bag/Battery/Memory, I would have gotten an extra lens. This weekend I hope to purchase a 80-200mm.

The Geese were quite friendly, like I said, I could have touched them. So it wasnt all that hard.

Many of mine are shot with my 28-105mm (approx $200.)
You could get a 75-300mm for approx.$180. Some of my others in there are with that.
Some were shot with my sigma 105macrowhich is more expensive($360.)

If you had bread with you then they usually let you feed them by hand too. Of course right now a lot of the females are nesting and so the males are being extra hissy and protective. You may also want to try at different times of the day to get better quality of light. It's a good shot, but with it being a fairly common bird you'll see a lot of the standard shots, so you really need to try and approach them differently too. Nature shots are great as they are mostly unpredictable and anything can happen each time you go out.
