I hate looking at things I can't have. :(

But, when shooting with this one, you have to get a new computer (Power Mac), LOTS of disc-space, lots of memory and lots of money ;)

Nah, can't afford that in a lifetime ;)

Well, the GOOD news is that it only has a 1.1fps frame rate. That at least "tames" its thirst for memory and drive space a little...

The bad news:

$46,995.00

I know the adage of "If you have to ask, . . . "
but how much?

Give camera makers another 5 or so years and that 50mp will be in a full frame DSLR, for abotu 2500.00.

Oh yeah, I want one, so do you, admit it.

Yeah I cannot wait for 50mp on a full-frame sensor, then I can have pictures like the following...

I only use mine to hold the door open or let the dogs play with it. Its a cheap toy really. I much prefer the REAL artistic latitude I get from my cropped sensor and 5fps. :P

*sarcasm alert*

Anyone want to go splitsies! We can alternate weeks if we can get 52 of use that wouldn't be too bad.

lol, that's still $ 1000 each ;)

For one week I think I can better rent one ;)

I won't be impressed untill I see a photo that you can't make with any of our cameras..

or maybe I'm just dumb...but what the heck are you going to do with a 50mp image..besides make a print for a billboard:P

Let's see... I delivered a beautifully detailed 24"x36" poster yesterday which was created by my dinky little 10.1mp Canon 1D Mark III. At effectively 4 times the resolution, I should be able to deliver a 48"x72" poster with equal resolution. I still want one. :-)

I would much rather have larger pixels thereby better range and noise than more pixels. That said, I can see a point to that many mp to be able to crop the image into several regular size photos, with 50mp you can crop to 20% of the image and still have a 10mp image. Use it with a fish eye and you can crop to zoom in on parts, combine it with a 600mm lens and get like a 5000mm out of it. It has lots of applications there, just, it is a bad trend of packing more and more megapixels onto sensors, sighs...

Remember, this is a large format sensor ... it is 49.1x36.8mm (1806mm squared) as compared to a 35mm full frame sensor which is only 36x24mm (864mm squared). So the pixels are still fairly large...

I know I'm picky, but when advertising a $47K product, I expect someone to proof-read the text before releasing it. Seeing that completely wrong comma in the first sentence on Hasselblad's site makes me wonder how much attention to detail they really have...

At 65mb per RAW image that's about 60 shots per 4gb card. ouch!
At 150mb per tiff image that's 26 shots per 4gb card.

Shooting speed is 1.1 seconds per capture. 30 captures per minute.
