Can we please have a 'HELP' section on it own.....
I often see other people ask for help, and I do as well, and often do not know which section or thread to put it in.
I really think a separate 'HELP' section, would be a good idea.
Thanks..... What do others think.
Yes, I know we have a Tips, Tricks, and Q&A section, but it isn't really an area I go to for HELP that is when I need Help, if you know what I mean.

I think that is what the Tips, Tricks, and Q&A section is for. "Discuss any tips or methods you'd like to share here. Ask a question if you have one or answer someone else's if you can."
I agree that could be more clear since on face value the first impression I get is a section to discuss Photoshop tricks. |

You should put questions in the Tips, Tricks, and Q&A section of the Forums.
Details of this Forum Section state: Discuss any tips or methods you'd like to share here. Ask a question if you have one or answer someone else's if you can.
Hope this helps. I think many people have all the Forum sections clicked for viewing with the exception of Rant and Personal Life so adding another Section may not be necessary. I saw you started a thread recently about Browser trouble. Perhaps make your title of your thread with a bit more info about your problem then "Help please..." it may help you get those answers. looks like you are getting some help. :)

For me the confusion is "Tips, Tricks and Q&A" seems like it should be about photography related questions. Maybe "Help" with site-related questions could be in a separate section.

Maybe just have a RTFM section that tells people before they ask for help to use the search feature before posting.
Most of the questions that are asked here have been discussed to death in the past. And most of the questions to be asked are already answered.

My problem with that suggestion, of using the search is twofold; 1) the search to me and many others seems confusing in the output it gives sometimes, 2) that is fine for information that does not change
I have a few problems with the search idea;
1) The search to me and many others seems confusing in the output it gives sometimes.
2) If a person is seeking help, they obviously already have a problem they need resolved. However searching on a site with as many comments as DPC could take hours to come to any reasonable answer, or to find one does not exist. It takes a great deal of time to weed through it all. However peoples memories are much faster at recalling threads and topics, so the most logical step is to just ask.
3) Information often changes, gets updated, the best answer in a past thread is not for certain the best answer now.
To me, the best process would be to ask first, then begin searching for the same question, if no one answers maybe they can find an answer that way, if someone answers it cost them a couple minutes and saved the askee several hours.
Optionally, it would be nice to have a page, with the most often asked questions that users can read or search. Like how do I increase brightness without making my image blurry. Answer: increase ISO or aperture *with link to thread explaining those terms and how to make the changes*.
That's just how I see it though. |

There should probably be a subset that is just for Help for Slippy... |

Wouldn't looking at the items under the Learn menu be the place to start with questions like that? |

It kinda blends in to be completely honest. I'm not sure what to do for existing users but new ones could default to a page mentioning it as an intro upon first accessing the forums, to make sure everyone notices it, but to be honest I've seen it, and still forget it is there. :/ |
