On a work/vacation in Newport RI I had the pleasure of stopping by The Cape to spend a few days with The Good King Bear_Music. It's an absolutely beautiful place to visit and during my stay I also had the pleasure of cooking side by side with The Chef himself. We hooked up some tasty vittles and in between I got to drive around and see some of Roberts breathtaking haunts. Here are a few shots from The Cape and from the beaches around The Narragansett Bay.

The jury is still out on some of the edits but they tell the story. Oddly, I was beginning to hone in on what I wanted to shoot on the very last day so as the time lapsed I never fully explored the beaches as a kind of "bone yard". There's a peaceful harmony to the many things that wash up on shore. They are very different but all one as they lay there.

Nice work, Steve. I'm jealous you were able to get out of hot, dirty NYC for a few days.

That is such a great trip to make! We came back from the same trip on June 1st! We did the Cliff Walk (which is just fantastic) and a whale watch which was really great too! There are pics in my portfolio from the trip. Glad you had such a great time!

Unfortunately I didn't have the time to see Bear_Music this time since we had to attend a family funeral. I need to get back for a visit with him .. for photography and vittles! So far I've seen him twice and we've hardly got to do either!

Thanks for the looks and the comments everybody.

Larry-If you don't get out you'll go nuts. Even a short hop will make a big difference.

Kat-Hanging with The Bear was fun. It's a beautiful place to photograph. I really enjoyed seeing the change in topography as we went up to P-Town. The weather was a little odd while I was there going from overcast to sunny, back and forth a few times within the day. I'm curious if that is common to the area?

There is an old New England saying..."if you don't like the weather, wait an minute...."

So, yes, it is very common for the weather to change often in a given day - especially out by the coast.

I just saw this.

Pawdrix was a fun date, and he can cook a little... But the really fun part was watching him struggle with getting his head around shooting landscapes. He's a city boy through-and through.

For any of y'all thinking of coming to visit: the spare room's been rented out through mid-september, so I got no overnight accommodations on-site until then, though we do share a fence with a motel and rooms sometimes available there, depending on the traffic at the given time.

I grew up on the Cape so YES! Most definitely the weather changes constantly, especially close to the water. The two times I did get to visit with Robert we had awesome weather while he drove us around to some of his photography haunts and down to the beach. Our trip there a month ago had great weather all but one day. I wanted to make the P-town trip during our visit in May but time for that just wasn't available since it was almost a 2 hour drive from where we were staying. I really want to go back in the fall to catch cranberry picking time but still having kids in school makes that trip very difficult!
