I am trying to find an online photography school to earn my degree. Currently I am attending New York Institute of Photography but I am thinking that I would be able to get jobs if I had a degree in photography. Does any know of a good online school that offers a degree program?

I'd like to know that too.

A quick google search brought up this:

//www.artschools.com/
//www.artschools.com/online_art_schools_degrees.html

You're probably looking for first hand info but this could help you start looking then ask for advice on particular schools.

hmm, thanks for those links. Wonder how accreditable doing a whole degree online like some of those would be.

Would it be more profitable to get a degree in photography or graphic design?

Off the cuff, and with no data to back it up whatsoever, I would say graphic design. That is going to give you a wider range of skills and thus more marketability. It would be photography PLUS, whereas a degree in photography would have more emphasis photography and not so much putting "packages" together.

Kinda like when I was a music major. We had music education majors and music performance majors. They took the same classes for the most part, and we would joke that you could perform with an education degree, but you couldn't teach (in schools) with a performance degree.

I was thinking the same thing. With a good graphic design background you could have a little more skills to use as a photographer. I would think if you have an eye and can shoot well, then have the skills to back it up with the design side, you should be able to get a job in design.

I wondered about that when I saw that you could get a graphic design degree online. I just wonder if I thought of doing that too, if I'd be able to do my nursing degree as well. Then I'd have a job that is in high demand and I could pretty much go almost anywhere, and then freelance for fun and money on the side as well.

A thread started by me that seems to be forgotten, but is a source for all higher eduction both online and off.

This thread is one I started to try and convince Langdon to include out side info for the membership.
