The other day, I was forced to do a full system restore via Time Machine (I have a mac) on my Macbook. Since the restore, everything has been working perfect.. except for Photoshop. I have PS elements 4 and it simply crashes on launch. Right as the tool bars load, it unexpectedly quits. I have reinstalled via the CD, but still doesn't work. Anyone else have this problem after a system restore? This makes me mad because I want to use photoshop, but I cannot get it to work. Any ideas?

Oh, as a followup, I just tried to use AppZapper to delete everything (prefs, plugins, help files, bridge, etc) and it still doesn't work. This is getting frustrating!

The Adobe program may be seeing your mac as a new computer since the restore, (like being copied to a different computer) and not allowing you to use it without contacting Adobe for a key update or re-register.

I doubt it's a registration/activation thang... it wouldn't just crash, it would ask for a license key and to be activated. I'm wondering if it is a shared file that is causing the problems. I'm not sure how to on a Mac, but I'd bet there's a way to dump information on the crash. That might lead to what is causing it.

Open "Finder", use "Search" type in : crash log. There is one for each program.
Have you tried "Utilities" -- "Disc Utility" -- "Permissions Repair" yet. That may do it.

My advice, CALL ADOBE support. I had a similar problem with my new laptop. I own both premium versions of the web suite and the design suite. Anyway everything worked great except for dreamweaver so after 8 or so hours of serious frustration with trying to launch it to find that the second the GUI loads, poof it crashes with no errors or anything its just gone. Ends up it was a file and folder encryption software thats included with my laptop that was causing the problems even though I wasnt using it at all. Anyway after 5min with adobe it was sorted out and running great...
