Hi All
Apart from using USM and the other in PS stages what do you use/recommend as a sharpening tool.
Such as for example:- Focal Blade; Photokit Sharpener; Fred Miranda Intellisharpen; nik Sharpener; (etc?)
TIA :~) |

With such an active community I was hoping some folk would have expressed some personal preferences and the reasons by now!
But then I am sometimes far too impatient.

Laurence, I sometimes use this approach.

I don't know what the "High Pass" filter does or how it sharpens the image, but what I usually do in PSP7 is: remove as much noise as possible, tiny amount of median filter, unsharp mask, then paste the original layer on top of all that and adjust opacity and blend mode until most of the fine details are brought back. This is actually a terrible way of sharpening a photo, and I often end up with a tangle of layers that I can't keep track of...but it's adequate if you don't look too closely. |

Hi both
Many thanks for the feedback.
I will be trying MR's High Pass technique but what I hope others here can comment on are the various tools/plugin's
Just this afternoon I was preparing a file for both a print and a web output and I was reminded of my brief reading about Photokit Sharpener from Pixel Genius. This has workflow approach based on final output which based on my efforts earlier has some appeal but it is expensive at $99 so would hope some folk hereabouts are using it and can give an experienced view.
