We forgot to mention for first timers, that you may want to make sure that the switch to the questionable "dark bulb" is in the "off" position before attempting the big adventure.
Did you know that you can use a raw potato to remove a broken off base from the socket. it's a good idea to not eat the potato, or the lamp parts later, and be sure that the power to the socket is off first.

On the subject of UV:

And at least one to mention that there is a lightbulb in Livermore, California that has been in service for 107 years, burning continuously for most of that time.

If we had but purchased a bulb like this, it would not be needing changing today...

2 who will state that it has been clinically proven that a bayonet fit bulb/tube/globe is far superior to a screw thread bulb/tube/globe.

6 will say that a Halogen bulb should not handled without gloves.

8 who say that it is a Halogen Tube!

One that will join the site the same day to put in a plug for their fantastic bulb. And that will be the only post they ever make!

One to take the lightbulb thing and make his own joke about them:

Q. How many computer programmers does it take to change a lightbulb.

A. Can't be done... it's a hardware problem {rimshot}

Well, yeah, a burning bulb doesn't fail if it isn't moved, jostled, disturbed, handled, insulted or speed challenged...
