About a month ago, Erwin (Joe) Bauer succumbed to cancer. He and his wife were retired and lived in Sequim, Washington. Bauer and his wife were a photographic team throughout 33 years of marriage. They co-authored and published 45 books of wildlife and nature photography as well as contributed to many spreads and covers for publications ranging all the way to the pinnacle, National Geographic. I̢۪m sorry I did not note the death of Joe even though he lived not more than 15 minutes from where I do.
I did, however, note the death of his wife in a tragic traffic accident in Sequim on March 23. Ironically, she was returning home from a doctor̢۪s appointment to get a yellow fever immunization so that she could travel to Kenya to spread her husband̢۪s ashes where she and Joe first met.
All of us; photographer professionals, amateurs and wannabees have lost two people who we should be looking up to.

How tragic :( - terrible that one died, but then that she also did within the month, and before she could complete her mission for her husband.
How sad for their family. |
