So I have been researching online for awhile on getting a new computer. This 1997 IBM dial-up, spacebar-less, 10 lb. laptop has run its course.
And I found this computer recently on Costco.com, its a HP Refurbished 22"W
Athlon 64 X2 5000+ 2.6GHz 3GB DDR2 500GB for 699.99 (includes shipping)
I have a few questions about it though;
1. Are refurbished any good?
2. Is the pricing reasonable?
3. should I just go new?
Any comments on this would help me out, and i would love to hear what you have to say!
Here is the link to the deal;

Hey Kari.
The last four computers I've purchased have all been "refurbished," which a lot of times means somebody bought it and didn't like something and sent it back. Every one has been in perfect working and cosmetic condition. My advice would DEFINITELY be to go refurb, but I would check the manufacturer websites and compare ordering from them directly. I've bought from both Dell and Gateway, and the process couldn't be easier. Plus you usually have more of a selection.
good luck! I've missed you wonderful self portraits since the end of the May side challenge! :-)

Like Jaker said, many refurbs are items that someone ordered, opened the box, didn't like, and sent back. And anything that did get used, or even damaged, the manufacturer would have repaired before reselling it. I've bought refurb stuff before and have always been pleased - good luck!

I just bought a HP refurb a month ago. It looks brand spankin' new, performs perfectly, and there's nothing that I can tell it's a refurb except the cardboard box that said "refurbished" on it. That looks like a heck of a deal, go for it! |
