So I get my 15 year old daughter to join DPC, and her first challenge is Orange. She gets an idea for a picture, and I coach her a little bit but she does all the work. Proud father watches as she uploads her entry, and then cautions her to get a thick skin and expect that there will be some comments that may be hard to accept. Then I complete my own entry and submit it, basking in the prescient glow that my picture will be a top 20 -- no, make that top 10 -- finisher for sure.

Within the first hour, the initial votes are coming in. She's at 5.5 something, and I'm at 4.8 something. Today, her score remains well above 5, and mine struggles to get back to 4.8.

I'm full of mixed emotions!
