My photographic art is not conventional and due to my processing methodology most if not all of my work will not qualify for challenges. I would though like to upload my work to DPC for several reasons:

1. Gain exposure for a non-conventional photographic art form.
2. Get you to view, comment and critique my work.
3. Learn from others.

Now, with all this said:

....Is there a place for me at DPC?
....Will folks consider such alternative photo based art?
....Will folks open up and comment on my submissions?

If there is a place for me here at DPC I will gladly again become a paid member or if not I'll just move on. In the closing weeks of previous membership I found myself resentful and confrontational. Such an attitude helped no one. Please reply honestly and openly.

I have not yet uploaded images but you can see a sampling of my art at:

DPC has a place for EVERYONE. However, not everyone will find it a place for them. Up to you if this is a place for you or not.

ETA: Viewed the gallery you linked to. Interesting work. Very abstract. Not sure why there are so many versions of the same thing - not much difference in some, or perhaps with the monitor I am using I cannot detect them.

If I had read a little further, I would have seen this post and not inquired about it in a Flickr PM!

I think your stuff might have trouble in challenges as it is very abstract and may be viewed as digital art rather than photography. It would not quite fit into a photoshopping site such as Worth1000, either.

Asking for comments is easier if you have a portfolio here on DPC, which means a paid membership. You can link to a Flickr image in a forum thread, however not all DPC members are on Flickr, so not everyone can quickly and easily comment on those. Getting feedback works better if you are asking for feedback on a particular image.

Hmmmm. I just had an idea that an abstract-a-day might make a cool side challenge. That would be right up your alley, and side challenges are more for fun, with no pressure to achieve scores.

I liked some of your website images. I relate to light and shadow, color, and simplicity, although it doesn't often show in my photo portfolio. The suggestion by yospiff about getting a membership here so you can post a portfolio and participate in the side challenges is a good one. A one month trial membership isn't too expensive if you are not sure about an annual one.
This is an excellent site to learn photo techniques and to interact with photographers and share feedback.
Have a look thru the DPChallenge Abstract Gallery and you will see that there are a lot of people here who shoot abstract images, and create abstract digital art.

Thanks for your comments. Yes, the size and type of monitor you use determines the viewers ability to clearly detect image changes. For instance, I suspect you may have been talking about the pyramidal images. When viewed on a high resolution monitor the progressive, yet subtle changes are very apparent. On other monitors, as you stated, they appear just to be repetitive.

I'm not an abstract fan.. just my opinion. looking at shapes, textures, shadow and light with no apparent subject doesn't appeal to me. Adding all of these elements into a photograph with a recognizable, fun, exciting, historic subject.. capturing the moment to last a lifetime, is what appeals to me.

However..some abstract can be intresting.. if the photo teases me to believe it something that it's not, or it actually is something I recognize.. but I can't quite put my finger on what it is. or if I can create a subject in my mind by looking at the photo. (usually that doesn't happen, but that's prolly cause I lack imagination =))

But I'd much rather be looking at a photo of an eagle diving out of the sky at 100+mph into the water to catch a fish. or whatever:)
