Hey everybody. I signed back up last week from about a 4 and a half year hiatus of not really taking any pictures. I started working full time while going to school and fell out of going out shooting on my free time. Then I ended up finding a little game called Warcrack (Warcraft) and got addicted to that. Some grades kind of took a dive cause I played games WAY too much. Then my boss died from cancer and the company I worked for went out of business.
Without a degree I couldn't find a job making close to what I had worked my way up to, so it was back to school for me. I decided to changed majors and get my RN, I have a daughter that was 7 weeks premature and spent 36 days in the newborn ICU. I want to work in the NICU once I'm done with nursing school. Have to get really good grades to get into a program and I'm right on the low borderline. This past month I realized my gaming and procrastination were coming back, (tend to do that when I'm stressed.) So I canceled all my online games, and took back the Xbox360 my wife had just gotten me for father's day. Then to put a spark under my photography I went out and upgraded my D100 to a D300. HOLY CRAP!!! How much digital photography has changed in the past 4 years. With my D100 I was shooting with a 256 meg flash card that I bought for about $70... I just got an 8 gig card for $99!! And my new camera... absolutely beautiful, and 12 megapixals :D
Now I have to stay on track and get out and shoot. Hopefully I haven't lost any creative touch that I had, or that I can regain my talent. I've just got to keep myself motivated to keep shooting away. I loved going out and taking pictures, it's a lot more productive than gaming. |
