I hate to bring this up again. But: Please make an old thread a different color so we can know before going in that it could be up to 6 years old!!!!
Do I have to start a ticket on this one?
Or maybe it's a Langdon thing and he doesn't think it's important??????
I would truly like to see a poll on this one. Haven't seen a poll in a while. It would be kinda nice. Then I'd shut the heck up if the majority didn't think it was a good idea.
Got to be careful not to draw too much attention to myself. I remember LeRoy.
:)
And yes I'm up at 4 am in the morning.
Loads of fun not being able to sleep.
Makes you cranky too!

It may have started 6 years ago but if it has a recent comment why does it matter when it started? Just click on the little yellow triangle thingee and you never have to know if it's 6 years old or not.

We ask new people (or everyone for that matter) to go and search for past threads before posting something they might consider "new". And then we complain if someone digs out an old thread???
Come on any new comment is a new comment and all could learn about it... or ignore it ;¬)
ETA: maybe after some sleep it won't look as bad ^_^

??? I don't see any of those on the DPC home page where the active threads are. |

Suggestions are made every day. Some are implemented and some are not. Most take time to implement if they are deemed worthy or useful. I suspect a different color for specific threads is not considered 'critical' at this point. There is a little icon at the end of every thread title that takes you to the LAST post made so age of the thread really isn't a factor. |

If not a different color, a little box that pops up and says, "Yo, Dude, this thread has been lying dormant for 5 years. Are you sure you want to resurrect it?"
Actually, I think it is a pretty good idea, simply because the date is very discreet on the page (as it should be), and the only thing that clues me in to the fact that it is an old thread are the names that is in it.
Yes, we encourage people to search before starting a new thread, but I have seen threads that are 4 or 5 years bumped when there is one in existence that is newer.
And then, there is the bump that rekindles an old argument (with new charactres) that has actually either resolved to some degree or lost interest. Yet, someone will come along and bump it just to stir up trouble. |

They're there. It's the little triangle to the right of the title of the thread. Click it and it takes you to your last spot you closed the thread at or your last reply.
As for the OP, I think it's a mute point, after you get acquainted with the yellow triangle that is. :D Old threads, new threads, it doesn't matter if the last reply was recent, does it? |

No, but they have been there a long, long time. I'd just forgotten they were yellow. |

I even double-checked the front page before I posted! LOL!
Ok. So when I hover over the yellow triangle it says 'Go to the first new post', when I hover over a green down triangle it says 'Go to the last post'. I'm not seeing any difference in where it opens the thread. Perhaps because I have my preference set to reverse order (show newest post up top)? |

I used have my preferences set to show the newest post at the top, but then I saw the light yellow triangle and set it back where it was. The little triangles work very well once discovered. |

Nope, it's not a mute point with me. I don't always look at the date when checking out a thread. So I'll start reading the sucker and it might take many posts for me to discover it's an old thread.
And.... starting at the end of a thread is not my usual method of reading a thread. I'd consider that bass-ackwards. :) If I recognize the thread it's not a problem. I use several other forums that list the creation date and OP on the thread list. So there are solutions, just may be none the owner wishes to implement. |

As far as a yellow triangle, I have a VERY SMALL down arrow just to the right of the thread titles with my browser. It's not even yellow on my computer. So it took me a moment to figure out what you were talking about. The down arrow actually makes sense as it takes you to the last post. Wonder why it's not yellow on my machine. And not a triangle. Hmmmmmmmm. I bet Art Rotflmao is somehow responsible for this. |

I believe the arrow is yellow if there has been a posting since the last time you accessed the thread. It changes color after you read it, and remains so until someone posts something new. |

Sorry, yellow triangles are my kryptonite - I don't have them, don't want 'em and my elbows explode if I'm around them. |
