I just got the Bogen Manfrotto 055PROB with the 322RC2 head. I took it out last night to shoot and while the combination was solid and worked great, the head won't tilt above the horizon. Is this typical of this head? User error? I never considered that a head wouldn't tilt up since every cheapo tripod I ever used tilts up and down.

If this is a head issue, what is a good substitute that tilts up and down, horizontal & vertical, etc?

Mine tilts in all directions just fine. Maybe yours has too much tension on the ball. That can be adjusted using the adjustment wheel on the ball lock lever, and by adjusting the hex head screws.

I'll check that out. I found on their no-so-easy-navigate website that the forward tilt is -90/+3. Some others are listed as -90/+90.

Edit: User error. There are two markings on the bottom of the plate for lens direction. I chose the wrong one.

Thanks Mick!
